January 22, 2009

I am someone who has always tried to be prepared for any "event" no matter where I lived. And this was before I woke up to the economic, social, governmental, political and Illuminati new world order crises facing us today. When I lived in San Francisco I was prepared for earth quakes. Or at least as much as any one can be. When I lived in Vermont I prepared for ice storms and power outages. Some people will remember around 1998 upper Vermont but mostly Montreal Canada was hit with a huge ice storm that knocked out power and heat for 100,000 people for weeks. Some people died and a lot suffered and not many even had water stored, let alone food. When I lived in Michigan I prepared for enormous storms. Now that I live in South Dakota I prepare for tornadoes.
Our ancestors always had something "put away" for emergencies. How did we get to the place where so few even think to put away a small amount of food and water? How did preparing and self sufficiency become such dirty words?
Am I crazy for my preparations? I don't think so. I had confidence that if the power went out, water stopped magically pouring from our faucet, the house collapsed or blew away, I would be prepared as best I could and be able to feed and take care of my children and family. I take that responsibility seriously. I take pride in it! I am more than a wife and mother, (I am no door mat), but it is the foundation from which I, The Person, launch from. Everything else to me seems secondary and of lesser importance.
So for all of us out there who bring our own flavor and level of "prepared", I offer these few sites to check out. They are a place to start. I will add more as time goes on since I have several more that are worth checking out. I believe education is important. I also believe in synchronicity! There have been many times that I bumped into someone who shared information or found information on something I was not even aware I was looking for until I picked up the book or "stumbled" onto a web site!! Then I was struck with a profound "ah ha". The information rang true and was what I needed or had the answer to what I was looking for. Maby some of these sites will help some other prepper and they will experience there own 'ah ha".
Cheers!

Great Job Outraged patriot!

(The following is a re-posting from American Preppers Network)
I had an excellent opportunity to stop in, have lunch, and meet CatMan from California for the first time. A pretty awesome guy we all have here operating California. He's got a lot of good ideas. Check out his network whenever you get a chance. He plans to start up sub-chapters within the California Preppers Network. By the way, from now on, whenever I receive a dispatch, I will post my route. If you see that I will be heading your way, e-mail me and maybe we can hook up and talk Preppin' over lunch or dinner.

Hello! I am one of the "stumblers", who stumbled on the American Prepper's work with each state & viola, here you are, first posting when I was first looking. Thank you for stepping in to these shoes. The weeks & months ahead are worrisome and it is nice to know there is someone else, right here in SD (although it is a big state ;-), that thinks along these lines.

We are recent empty nesters trying to get in a position to feel "ready" for tornadoes (et al). It was enough of a struggle to get hubby on the same page, much less the 3 kids that are busy being young & look cross-eyed at Mom! We will be prepping for them, as well. We have a daughter & son-in-law that are well along in prepping, unfortunatley, it is mostly in the defense area (not that that is a bad thing, just that they will need to eat!). Working with them right now, but stopped to say Hi.
